Hyundai IONIQ 5, The First Electric Car Produced in Indonesia, Redefines Indonesia’s Future Mobility

Radarcirebon.com, JAKARTA - PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia introduced IONIQ 5, the newest mid-size electric car from Hyundai, at the 2022 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS), which will be held from 31 March to 10 April 2022. The presence of the IONIQ 5 is a breakthrough and historical leap in the country\'s automotive industry for being the first Battery Electric Vehicle
(BEV) to be mass-produced at the Hyundai Motor manufacturing plant in Cikarang, West Java, Indonesia. The IONIQ 5 offers a futuristic design equipped with environmentally friendly
materials and the first electric car built on the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), a platform with many advantages designed by the Hyundai Motor Group specifically for the BEV
model.

This platform is engineered to offer improved cornering performance and driving stability at high
speed. This is due to optimal weight distribution between front and rear, a design that enables a
low center of gravity thanks to its low-mounted battery pack, and the adoption of electric motors
located in the space previously occupied by an engine. The platform secures battery safety
through a battery support structure made of ultra-high-strength steel. Also, the hot-stamped
steel components surround this structure for additional rigidity. Collision energy can be absorbed
efficiently thanks to energy-absorbent sections of the body and chassis, effective energy load
paths, and a central section of the battery pack tightly bound to the vehicle body.
Moreover, by strengthening the structure of the load support section, located in front of the
dashboard, engineers have been able to minimize collision energy to the power electric system
and battery. E-GMP maximizes interior space through its long wheelbase, short front and rear
overhangs, and slim cockpit module. With the battery pack mounted beneath the floor, the EGMP creates a flat floor for the cabin. This provides more legroom for passengers while enabling various arrangements for the front and rear seats.

The IONIQ 5 has a progressive appearance and represents a futuristic vehicle that fits a practical
yet luxurious lifestyle. The overall appearance of the IONIQ 5 evokes the bold design presented
by the Hyundai Pony, the first Hyundai car in the world, which was born in 1974. It is undoubtedly
a reflection of the reality of the \'Sensuous Sportiness\' philosophy in the design of Hyundai cars,
which focuses on the aura of a distinctive and robust impression accompanied by emotional value
and enthusiasm. The sharpness of the character of the IONIQ 5 can be seen from the front side
of the vehicle, which is equipped with Parametric Pixel LED Headlamps* and Front Center Garnish Hidden LEDs. In addition, the clamshell-type hood makes the IONIQ 5 can optimize the driving aerodynamics. On the rear side, the IONIQ 5 displays its trademark as a modern design vehicle with Parametric Pixel LED Rear Combination Lamps accompanied by an aerodynamic spoiler shape. On the side,
the IONIQ 5 door handle uses the Flush Door Handles* type, which looks flush with the body
when the car is locked. The Flush Door Handles will work manually on the Prime types and

automatically on the Signature types. The dynamic design that stands out is also shown through
the Parametric Dynamics concept, a-line design that seems to make the first-row door merge
with the second-row door.
